The Department of Mathematics at the University of Salzburg is hiring a PhD student in geometric analysis, with applications to mathematical biology. The successful candidate will work closely with Prof. Dr. Simon Blatt as part of the analysis group of the University Salzburg under Prof. Dr. Verena Bögelein.
Research topics may include elastic energies (classical and fractional), modeling of biomembranes, geometric evolution equations, and self-repulsive energies for curves and surfaces. Applicants should hold a master’s degree in mathematics, have strong English skills, and show interest in collaborative research. Background in calculus of variations, differential geometry, or PDEs is a plus.

- 4-year position, 30h/week
- €2,786.10/month (14× per year)
- Light teaching duties (2h / week) from year 2 on
